Are you an identity theft victim? Read on and don't become one!

Some of you will hear a new term here concerning identity theft.....tweakers! Tweakers are those who do drugs, in particular speed based drugs also known as methamphetamines.

Tweakers can stay up for several days in a row and often they are paid for every ID they can steal which is most often used to buy more drugs with.

It has been reported in areas of the country like Phoenix, Arizona and Los angeles California that tweakers will go into your trash at night while you are sleeping and dig out every slip of paper and try to piece them together to steal your identity.

For this reason alone, I got a confetti paper shredder and send everything into it, including junk mail!

Next, mail theft is the next best method of stealing your identity because of all of those approved credit card offers most of us receive in the mail! If you get a lot of these you may want to opt out of such pre-approved offers.

All an identity thief has to do is open an account in your name and make payments as agreed in order to establish your identity as one he/she can clean you out with. See how important it is to monitor your credit score and reports?

This can take years and if your not using a credit monitoring service than you may not find out what is going on until it is too late! Hackers can also enter your computer and steal your Identity form there too, but this is much harder if your one of those with a good firewall and credit card companies are using some pretty impressive encrypting methods of protecting both you and them!

With virtual account numbers, no one will know what your credit card numbers are when you make purchases online and the numbers used evaporate into cyberspace once the transaction is completed! The internet can be one of the safest places to shop if you protect yourself and online store want you to be a customer so they have good reason to offer services like Verisign at their checkout webpages.

If your looking for internet firewall software I would recommend Zone Alarm software. This is the best I've found and Zone Alarm internet security suite is the best I've tried and I use it myself.

I've also used and recommend Norton Symantec and found it very effective too. Norton will automatically update and search out the latest type of hacker attacks and insulate you against them!
